Looking for rear seat belts for a 1968 cougar XR7 with the dark red interior. I have black ones if looking to trade.
Black standard seat belts were standard in every 1968 XR-7. Red seat belts were only used if you ordered a standard Cougar. The deluxe belts would be on your Marti Report, again they would be black for a 1968 XR-7.
Thank you for the information. The Marti report says the car came with the dark red interior and a black top. The soft center part of the steering wheel is black as well as the steering column. But the rear seat belts are red (must have been replaced) while the front ones are black as is the plastic retractor covers. Does that sound right? A red interior with a black steering wheel, black steering column and black seat belts? Trying to figure out what was correct. Thx. Paul in Maine
Yes a typical XR-7 in 1968 has standard black seat belts front and rear. Red was only used in standard 1968 coupes.
