1968 GT Snorkel

I am looking for a 1968 GT snorkel for my XR7-G. It has the standard valve covers, so I don’t need the crazy snorkel to fit over the finned valve covers. I have one that I thought would work for now, but it rubs the hood.

Let me know what you have.

Thanks,

Matt

The Hertz G used the standard GT snorkel since it had the standard chrome valve covers.

Yes, that’s right. If anyone has one they are willing to part with, I would appreciate it.

Mansfield Mustangs has a repop, but they are pretty pricey. I will wait a while before springing for one of those.

This part is hard to find!

I am still in the market and have decided not to get a reproduction one. I think it will give me an excuse to go to swap meets and shows.

If anyone is out there with one, let me know!

Keep in mind the repop is not a repop, it is made by using original parts from a couple other original units and you can buy direct from Hank Huissman in Paradise FL. He does a good job…

I have no doubt they are good. I have seen pictures of them and they look very good. I just think I can at least get a snorkel cheaper than buying a repop.

I still may have to buy the repop heat riser tube. I can’t imagine many of the originals are still around.

There are no reproductions of the heat riser parts available for the 390. You can make the repro 428 S tube work on a 390 but not the heat shield.

That is a question I had. I have the heat shield, but no s tube or correct snorkel.

I checked at Mansfield Mustangs and they have an original one. I thought it was a repop, but I remembered wrong. I think I might have a correct one sourced locally for $200. I will need to make sure it is the one for a 390 and not a 428.
