1968 Steering Components Seized

Any tricks out there to break free seized inner tie rods and other pieces connected to the center link?

I have used penetrating oils and tried to apply force with little results.

I’m a little nervous about a flammable situation if I apply torch heat (no experience here).

Thank you in advance!

UPDATE: I should have been clearer, castle nuts removed okay, it’s the shafts of the driver side inner tie rod, PS control valve, and the slave cylinder that have seized.

Penetrating fluids, impact, and heat are the options and many crusty connections require all three.

Regarding heat, I’m assuming a propane torch, do I have any flammability concerns or do I need to take any safety measures before proceeding? …I’m concerned about all the penetrating fluids I have been using.

Thanks, you helped me again!

Awesome! I get it conceptually, but what is this tool called?

Thank you, sfhess!

How about a pickle bar!

I have been using my pickle fork too. I may need to revisit pickle fork pressure down, while hammering or tapping on the center link. I will work on it again today, but if no luck, I will be moving to heat with various other combinations.

Thank you!

You should be able to jam the pickle fork in to apply pressure and strike the knuckle where the ball joint seats into to pop it apart… Sometimes takes a big hammer and force but it will pop…

Thank you, Nolen! I will try that combination.

I spray them, then heat with a MAP gas torch I have and then spray it again while hot. I also hit perpendicular to the shaft with my convincer. The side blows are usually more effective than pushing axially.
