1968 X Code Triple Black

68 X Code Factory Onyx Black with black interior and black vinyl top. Oakland built car and spent most of its life in CA and that shows. All original body panels. No rust. Car is clean, straight and very dry all over.

Factory equipped with AC, limited slip rear, Power steering and power disc brakes.

Car runs and drives great, headlights work great etc. Its a turn key car. Body is very straight and paint is very nice in my opinion. turn key car, doesnt need anything but a new owner.

Marti report shows a very nicely optioned car.

Neat car. Anything changed under the hood besides the air cleaner?

Niiiice!

Date code on the block(pictures in the link) is 6K21. That is Oct 21, 1966. About 2 years early.

But the under side pictures show what looks to be a nice solid Cougar. Wrong date code in block may not be a problem for many buyers.

Good catch Neal. I was a little excited about this one, but now it’s become just another lowly X code.

It’ll make somebody a nice toy… If you remember what Chris Benis did with his X code, he made it more like a S code 68 using correct intake, carb and air cleaner. I would have driven it with pride.

A 68 triple black is the cream of the crop, IMO

I actually have a far more correct engine to put in this including the hard to find air cleaner parts. But it’s hard to get near $23k when I paid $2500 for mine. It’s not triple black, but it’s every bit as solid as this car.

I agree but it sure looks good .

Hmm, only tight close up shots of the dash so I assume that means the pad is warped? Also what happened to the radio pad section of the centre console?
Also only one shot of the engine bay which looks like it could use a tidy up…

Yup, you can see the dash pad is warped. Nice car though.

The center console itself is 67 standard with the 68 radio plate section and door retained from the original minus the pad.
