1968 XR-7 GT-E Listed for sale

Anybody know anything about this '68 XR-7 GT-E?
Surprised no one has mentioned it here.

Probably another 50k to get the hood grill and bumpers aligned

I really can’t understand why someone would go to the trouble to add two extra toggle switches to the center of the dash ( perhaps using correct toggle switches + the C7WY-13753-A retaining nuts ) and then to have added that terrible cheap white plastic knob marked FOG. Kind of butchered the center dash part, in my opinion. For 225K you’d think someone would have more ‘finesse’ ?

There will be some moderately rich guy that will buy it.

The same rich guy that buys time on a charter jet but can’t afford his own jet.

Or he has enough money to fly first class and pay for private car service to their second home.

Ask me how I know.

Is this a bad thing? You make it sound like it is. Not sure why?

Lots more photos at seller’s website (where price is lower too)

A 428 CJ GTE is a very rare car, but a lot will depend on the driveline originality and the history of the car if it is known. Certainly a lot of docs and at least some suggestion that it may have been a preproduction prototype car, but will let people smarter than me confirm.
