I hope other members can give me some of their ‘been-there-done-that’ advice on the rear axle gaskets for my Cougar. Am planning on an overhaul for the rear differential, and would like to have all the parts on hand - nothing more annoying than having to put a project on hold while ( yet ) more parts are sourced.
Here are a couple of images I put together from the MPC showing the gaskets I’m looking for. Can anyone tell me which ones are used ( Ford or aftermarket part numbers ? ) and where they were sourced from ?
I don’t have a number but the gaskets are made by Fel Pro and are available at any local auto part store. The one between the axle housing and the backing plate is made from paper and the one between the backing plate and the rear axle is made from metal.
Repops (the same company that reproduces the beltline kits) was reproducing the paper gasket.
