My latest find! It took several years for me to convince the owner to finally sell it to me. Very original car, matching # engine and transmission, etc. Nicely optioned, what do you think? Pictures coming soon. I drove it down the street and it spun both rear tires easily, so I know the traction lok is still working!

I LIKE IT!!! Go figure…
What is the GT package all about? On my Marti report my options were heavy duty suspension, cooling and battery. Was this grouped into a package called GT Options?
Put some pics up so we all can see.

Initial photos of the new Cougar while still on the car dolly. It’s dusty and dirty from many years of sitting in a garage. I’ll try to get it somewhat cleaned up this weekend. Pretty much all original except for the rootbeer brown paint (it should be dark ivy green metallic or Black Jade as Ford called it). It was repainted back in the 1980’s from what the previous owner told me. I’m thinking of re-painting it 1968 Highland Green, and adding a hood scoop. I think it would look awesome like that. Interior is all original, rim blow wheel still works. The clock lens is not cloudy believe it or not, meaning that this car probably did not see much top down time over the years.
My understanding was that the “GT option” meant it got heavier duty springs and the 15/16 inch Cobra jet style front sway bar, and also the infamous “351” hood stripe.
The 4 speed and clutch are functional as is, althought the clutch pedal release point is too high for my liking. Any ideas on how to lower it?
The shift handle knob is the original one, and it’s not very attractive in my opinion, so I will likely put on a 1970 style Hurst T handle.
The clutch can definitely be adjusted, not sure exactly how as when I replaced my clutch/flywheel/transmission I was the one in the car on the lift working the pedals. Great looking Cougar. The rims look original as well.
Nice score. Looks like a solid ride. Can’t go wrong with adding a hood scoop.
Wonderfully optioned Cougar, congrats!
Don’t toss that original shifter knob - very desirable item.
Great score and black jade is a sharp color. Th interior looks in good shape too.
Real nice find Scott!
Nice. Big fan of the Saddle interior.
Got the title yesterday, it’s been in the same family with the same owner since 1983! More inspection on the car, shows it’s very original. Even still has the 4 original FOMOCO script headlights.
Brakes seem OK, but the brake light is on. Probably need to do the rebuilt technique as shown on the WCCC video. It also needs shocks. Who knows, the shocks might be the original Autolite ones. I’ll find out this weekend, I plan to install a set of KYBs on it.
Very nice indeed! Great score
Sorry for the long delay in providing a further update on the Cougar. I have been slowly working to address some of the Cougar’s drive-ability issues. It now has a newly re-chromed rear bumper, freshly cleaned out gas tank, and I rebuilt the original 4V Autolite 4300 carb. It turns out that the car does still have 4 original Autolite shocks on it! That is pretty amazing. The mileage on the car shows 32696. Now I’m wondering if that could possibly be actual original miles, and not 132696 as I previously thought it was. There seem to be several signs it could possibly be original. The rimblow steering wheel shows minimal wear with no cracks. The center pad is still very nice. The leather seats are all original in great shape. The arm rests still look great, and are not cracked or discolored. The carpet is original and in good shape. The pedal pads show no signs of wear. The factory original floor mats don’t show any noticeable wear either, one small spot on driver’s side. It has an original dash pad, not cracked or faded. The dash woodgrain is also not sun faded. The “red” coloring on the instruments is still bright. The Xr7 clock lens is the factory one, and not cloudy. The front tie rods (inners and outers) are FOMOCO originals with no grease fittings. Will keep investigating and let you know…
Marti report now attached. Enjoy…Scott

Scott. You mentioned that the car had original mats. Are they the running cat rubber mats? What color are they? Tnx. Dave

Nice score on the car - enjoy!
Looking at the Marti I maybe drooled over that car as a kid. I grew up right down the road about 3 miles. McDonalds and A+W were right down the street.
