This 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 was ordered on 2/20/1969 and sold 8 days later. From February 1969 to June of 1993 the Cougar would cover only 29,758 miles with one owner, an average of only 1,239 miles per year! A complete service record history shows that three more owners would put less than ten thousand miles on the Cougar in the next 22 years. In June of 2015 the Cougar had about as many miles as a typical three year old car (a measly 39,643) before I pulled it out of Michigan and over to Chicago for a soft restoration over the last several years, which included important safety, performance and comfort upgrades to elevate this car to what you see today, while still keeping it stock in all the right places.

Original polished factory Ford Black with the correct black vinyl roof and the desirable, original dark red interior. This factory-equipped cat came with the XR-7 trim package, an AM/FM Stereo Radio, Whisper-aire Air Conditioning (R12), a Tilt-Away Steering wheel (deactivated), Floor Console, Deluxe Belts/Warning Light, Power Steering, and Power Front Disc Brakes. The reliable & strong 351ci V8 Windsor is backed by an FMX automatic transmission. Not just a head turner, but a First-Place Class award winner at several regional and national Cougar shows.

The sale includes original purchase documents, a written summary of maintenance and a very full binder of service receipts dating back to the early 1970s, a Deluxe Marti Report, the original 1969 Michigan plate, and a clean Illinois State title, plus much more…Always kept in a dry/humidity-controlled garage and stored safely from the Chicago winters. To this day, it is a dry, rust-free Cougar!

I would grade between #2 and #1 condition - Overall, this is a pristine example of the 1969 XR7 hardtop - only 1 of 149 with the paint/trim code.
One of the finest Cougars currently available and you would be hard-pressed to find a cleaner, original Cougar under 47K miles on the market today.

I am posting this first on the Cougar Community Forum before putting this out on the global marketplace. I would like to see this fall into the hands of a fellow Cougar enthusiast.

I took the liberty of creating a landing page with pics, specs, details & video of the car for viewers to check out: https://evanstonhome.wixsite.com/mysite

Happy to have a call with anyone who is genuinely interested. PM me and I will answer any questions and start a dialogue. I can provide additional pics as requested, but I don’t have a lift so undercarriage images will be somewhat ‘limited’. Serious inquiries should schedule an appt to see this car in person. Cougar is located in Chicago.

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful Cougar! I remember looking it over at the Cougar 50th in Dearborn. Good luck with the sale.

Scott, I was shocked when I saw this thread that you have decided to sell your gorgeous 69. I enjoyed our time and conversations at local shows and of course Dearborn and Springfield. I hope your decision wasn’t out of necessity but rather your interests have evolved or better yet you have found another Cougar! Anyway I wish you good luck with the sale.

Just have to say that this is the best classic car sales listing I have ever seen.

What an excellent presentation! If I were in the market it would certainly catch my interest. The scrolling text at the end is hard to read and undercarriage shots are the only things that you might want to address. Great job!

Thank you for the kind words and support! I also just uploaded the complete service history with receipts on the site from 1969 to 2015, for anyone who is interested. Please give it a minute to load, as it is a large file:
https://evanstonhome.wixsite.com/mysite/service-history

These hardcopies will go to the new owner in a complete binder, including service history from 2015 to present.

Cougar has been SOLD.

Congratulations on the sale Scott
