For Sale 1969 Cougar XR7 Convertible with a 390 cubic inch motor and close ratio Toploader 4 Speed. I built this for my brother-in-law who has unfortunately passed away and my sister does not want to keep it. According to the Cougars by the numbers book it is one of 40 made in 1969 with the XR7 package and 390 with a 4 speed. It was originally Maroon in color and is now painted in stunning Dodge Viper Red. I took the car completely apart for paint. Car was taken to bare metal by Innovative Auto Body in Belfair. Car is completely rust free and paint is perfect. $15k in paint and body work. Don’t make me total the bill for parts through West Coast Classic Cougar!! New leather seats and buns. Seat pans have been lowered to augment taller drivers. Original black top is in very good condition with a glass window. Fresh non-number matching 390 with 428 Cobra Jet heads and exhaust manifolds. Mild Cam and EdelBrock Aluminum Intake Manifold with new Holley 650 CFM double pumper. New Centerforce clutch and pressure plate with freshly turned fly wheel. New 9-inch 3.25 ratio 2 Pinion Trac lock and 28 spline axels. Power Brakes, Power Steering, and Power Top. New brakes and suspension components. New “old Ford Look” radio and upgraded door speakers. Lots of new bright work and some original survivor pieces.
All gauges and lights work perfectly. Door ajar, E-brake light and blah blah blah. There is nothing on this car that does not work including the reverse backup lights, the clock, and hideaway headlight doors. Car is an absolute joy to drive. If you are looking for an exceedingly rare Cougar vert, I challenge you to find a nicer one that does not come to shows in a trailer!! Make no mistake it is not a concurs restoration, but the quality of the work is. I have many more photos and a video of it running with the tach, oil pressure, and temp at operating temperature.
VIN number upon request.
$52,500.00. Rob Campbell (360) 377-5164. Land line so do not try to text me.
Thanks Neal! As a 66 year old man that has owned a bunch of Fords, I am a bit apprehensive to ask this amount. We/He are in to it for nearly $50k with no labor for myself in it. I fully realize how easy it is to get underwater in these old cars. I did this for my brother-in-law and took great joy in it.
At the same time I have witnessed very incomplete cars that have shiny paint and no more. The red Mecum GTE was one of those. It had many problems and took alot of time and patience to work through each one. This is the real deal and it all works perfectly.
No plans for pinstripes. Hope someone gets this car. It is worth every penny. Lots of people go buy a $15k to 20k car and then find out what it takes to make it presentable.
I have the Marti Elite Report. One of one car due to Maroon paint and black leather seats. I have a partial build sheet plus the window sticker and such. Also have the history of owners and history on the dealer it was purchase from. An excel spreadsheet from the last owner of everything he did to the car. Some of the best history I have seen from prior owners.
The Vin number of 9F94S534336 denotes it as a XR7 Vert with a 390. The rest of the car matches the Marti report sans the paint.
Elite Marti Report. Window Sticker Sorry they are rotated. If someone can fix that please do. I have more photos’ but this site download is kicking my you know what. It is a one of one Cougar.
