Didn’t sell for $125000. Wow… Why was this soo special??? Don’t get me wrong. I like seeing 69 prices above $100000. Not that mine is any where near this car. Maybe why it didn’t???
Mecum can bid the car up to it’s reserve. I don’t know if that happened in this case but at a Mecum auction I bet it did. If no one else bids it is a no sale.
This was my friend’s car in central Florida. He does nice work, focuses on 4.30 cars. Usually Mustangs.
In this case there was money in the room. The $120,000 bid was legitimate and not a house bid.
The car was nicely done, but has several minor details wrong which then makes you question unseen stuff. As examples, the buck tag was present but mounted where a Metuchen car would have it on the passenger inner fender above the hood hinges. There were numerous missing harness attachments and incorrectly painted bolts/finishes. There also were very few photos of the casting numbers, date codes and other pre and post restoration.
Home made door panels?
The door panels look fine to me. What did I miss??? This is a beautiful car.
Nice Cougar.
Should have had the front bumper guards - the holes are there in the valance.
The door panels are redone - that kind of stitching isn’t found on the base Cougar, decor or XR-7. Professional job, though.
Wow!
that’s a home run for Mecum and the seller. The door panels look like they were stiched on a machine like maybe they got made by Just Dashes or a similar vendor.
