1969 quarter panel extensions

I don’t see anything in my service manual about installing the quarter extensions.

I have two questions:

  1. Does anyone have the torque spec for the mounting bolts?
  2. Is there a gasket?

Don’t know about torque on the bolts. There are gaskets, got mine from Johns Classic Cougar. Probably pretty available elsewhere as well.

I don’t know the torque spec but you can look around at Cougars and see many with dents in the extensions from over tightening. I would just snug them up enough so they won’t fall off and call it good. No need to crank them down.

Only tighten them enough that they do not move when you push firmly on them or they will dimple.

Anyone have any luck getting the dimples out? ……asking for a friend… :open_mouth:

They can be sanded and filled just like any other metal.
