I’m new to the list, but not to Cougars. My wife and I have had several, including her 1968-1/2 XR7 (R-code, but not GTE). Yeah, you know why I married her.
Anyway, I am currently installing factory speed control on a 1969. I pulled the unit from a parts car years ago and need some help determining where the holes for the speed control bracket in the engine compartment go. I’m pretty sure it mounts on the inner fender behind the passenger shock tower. Any measurements or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
I am south of Fort Worth, Texas if anyone has a car I could come look at.
We just recently had an original owner stop by our shop, and his '69 has factory speed control. Here’s an under-hood shot. Looks like it’s not entirely hooked up, but at least it shows the mounting location.
Thanks for the photo. It doesn’t really show me where the holes go, but it might help me figure it out.
I have looked for the dimples and couldn’t find any. Maybe this photo will help me look in the right place.
Here is a couple of pictures of my 69 convertible w/factory speed control. Its hard to see, but it is a 3 point mounting for the speed control.
Hope this helps.
