1969 Styled Steel Wheel Painting questions

I purchased 5 original Steel Styled wheels for my '69 and unfortunately it appears they had been painted sometime in the past.

I’m going to have my body guy blast and paint them for me. He’s going to paint them with his equipment and not with an aerosol can.

First question. Was the entire rim painted Dark Argent or just the front center section? One of my rims still has the FoMoCo sticker in the inner rim and the paint appears to be semi-gloss black in that area. I’m assuming the outer rim and backsides were SG Black and just the front center section was Dark Argent?

Question 2. Since I don’t have a reference area to match is there a paint code out there that matches the correct Dark Argent color? I’m assuming the Dark Argent was Semi-Gloss as well?

You’re correct. Outer rim is black. Only the center is dark argent. I don’t know if its still good, but at one time the paint code was PPG/Ditzler DDL33053. Finish is semi-gloss. There may be a spec for the exact degree of glossiness, but I don’t know what it is. Just somewhere between flat and shiny.

Thanks that’s exactly the info I needed!

Was the entire front of the rim painted Argent like the WCCC picture. Or just the center portion like the blue convertible??

The front side of the 5-spoke center section of the SS Wheel was painted the Dark Argent color. The inner mounting side of the center section and inner & outer areas of the wheel band was painted Black.
