The car is missing the windshield washer system, I think Ed (Bro -in-Law former owner) just removed stuff when it broke (see 69 Factory Air Thread).
WCCC was kind enough to sell me everything I need to replace the system.
So, why are there 4 hoses and one “F” connector with 3 fittings?
1 long hose from the reservoir to the base of the Connector
1 hose to the drivers squirter, 1 hose to the passenger squirter.
Where does the 4th one go?
Looking at pictures (thanks to all you proud of your engine compartment posters) I see that I am also missing the hood to cowl seal.
That brought up the next question (which all the noobs in the mustang forums ask and never get answered) Do the Hose Clips go over the Seal? I haven’t been able to find a pix with that detail, nobody takes a pix from that angle, or doesn’t bother with the clips. So what’s the story?
Thank you, thought I was really missing something, EVERY kit I’ve seen has the 4 hoses, maybe Mustangs have the F connector at a different spacing than the Cougar and the 4 hose makes it universal for Ford products.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Ok Guys, how about those Hose Clips?
Yes, I have the hole for the F connector, and the same carburetor as you also.
The cowl clips do not go over the hood to cowl seal. I believe you will find that they are used to hold the long hose from the washer bottle to the F clip up against the cowl pinch weld, the one where the cowl to shock tower braces bolt on. It would go in the area above the brake master cylinder or power booster if so equipped.
I got my seal and screw package. The seal is about an inch and a half longer than the cow lip. Probably for a different lip maybe on a Mustang? Should I cut off the extra or leave it be?
Also - the screw package had five gold screws and two black. I assumed the black screws were for each end, but that needs a washer, which did not come with the screw package.
Otherwise all secure. Thx for the heads up. Probably lost the seal during the paint process. Without this thread I never would have known.
