Greg,
Great write up for your shop!
I can’t wait to see what it brings. I hope it gets great tv coverage. The GTE at the last Mecum missed its air time because the auction was running behind schedule. I hope it does well because it’s a beautiful car.

It’s Cougar time…
From what I can see the cars are selling cheap to a few bidders.
41k and it did not make reserve. It’s listed on “The Bid Goes On”. I programed my DVR so I can watch it cross the block. I hope it was represented well by the announcers and got accurate coverage.

Looks like this car had a front end crash. Both aprons are showing damage. Wonder why on this caliber of restoration, this was not addressed? Too bad, as this drops value BIG TIME !
Bill did you get to see the car? I watched it cross the block on tv and when they showed the engine compartment I used slow motion and zoom on my DVR and I did not notice the damage you were talking about. It looked like a really nice car over all. The commentators other than Bill Stevens seemed to talk more a about comparing the Cougar to the Mustang than the actual car. Bill Stevens did remind them that there was a Ram Air 428 CJ under the hood and that is what mattered.

No need to be “in person” on this one. Take another look at the 2 pics of the eng bay…
The Pass. front apron show major wrinkles… then look at the other one. Both show damage poorly repaired. The driver side on the top of the shock tower area where we see rust in these cars, looks like it has acne!
Smart money passed on this one…
I see it now. I was looking on the tv and not the auction listing photos. On the big screen it looked nice as I’m sure most of the cars do.
There was a good many Ford and Mercury’s in this auction. They even had a black 1979 Cougar, there was another nice looking 69 vert that crossed the block and sold for 18,250. The biggest draw back I saw with that car was the two tone white and red seats. Over all it was a clean and nice looking car.

1969 Convertible at Mecum
Very easy to get “blinded by the bling”! Too bad the car did not get that stuff fixed. Very cool looking car and one I’d like in my dream garage!
