As most of you have heard, long time Cougar enthusiast Lou Whitfield succumbed to cancer last month. His widow really needs to liquidate his car so as to make her life less complicated. Lou tried selling it this last Fall but just did not feel up to showing it. His wife begged him not to install the BOSS 429 scoop so they compromised and had both the original and scooped hood painted. She is enlisting the help of some friends this week to change out the hoods back to original. If anyone in the Bakersfield area would like the scooped hood it can be had for $200. She is trying to find the Marti report, it is a 3 owner original California Black plate car that has been well maintained all its life and comes with several parts to get it back to original if one so chooses. Lou was pretty firm at $30k but I have instructed her to ask $26k and be willing to flex a little so as to make it sell with as little friction as possible. I will be screening calls and forwarding the serious inquires to her. 503-463-1130
Hello, Lou’s wife here (signed-in with Lou’s login). I had a couple car buddies come over this morning to help put the original hood back on. I ran into a problem though, I couldn’t find the stock air cleaner housing. I know that it’s boxed up in the garage somewhere but I couldn’t find it. So, the switch out will have to wait till another day!
-Thank You
If you cannot find it I will donate one. Please contact me with your other ph# as I have a couple folks interested in your car. One guy is in France and is very excited about it and needs more pictures. Thanks for chiming in!
BTW, I had forgotten about Lou’s soft spot for Cyclones. He helped me a few times with my 69 428 RA Cyclone years ago. He was a very positive, helpful guy and I will miss him.
