1969 XR7 sequencer cable wiring with painless AAW

Hi,

Have a Cougar XR7 1969 HT - with sequential turn signal.
Since the wiring in this car is a total mess and in a really bad condition I am about ot replace it with painless system from American Autowire (AAW) using kit 510177 “1969-70 classic Update kit”. So installation of this kit will need some modifications to fit.

The issue I have is how to adapt the AAW to the existing rear cable wires.

My understanding is:
449 (White with blue stripe) = Right front turn (not sure about this though)
445A (Orange with blue stripe) = Right rear turn
442A (Green with orange stripe) = Left rear turn
511 (Green) = Brake ligth
448 (Green with white stripe) = Left front turn (not sure about this though)

The solid state sequencer controls brake/stop-, park-, Turn signal lamps, the side marker lamps, license plate and the rear lamps.

  • it also controls the R/L front turn signal ligths i.e. 448 & 449. I assume these cables runs all the way to the L/R front turn lamps (not sure about this though)

Please correct me if my assumption is wrong!

Since the original rear wiring is in a pretty good shape, I will not replace it but connect the AAW to it under the dash. But I am unsure about these cables 448 and 449 since they are not part of this kit, which is not a surprice.
I think I need to pull new cables to the front L/R turn lamps and skip the routed front turn cables from the kit -the reason is rear and front turn lamps should be synchronized.

Now the question:
How to deal with the 448 & 449 is my thinking correct or is there a better way to do this?

This almost almost always ends in tears. Lots of stuff on the XR7 that is not exactly compatible with aftermarket kits. The low fuel light the door ajar lights and even the switches for courtesy lights don’t really work the way most after market kits are set up. The best solution, and the next owner will thank you for it, is to get a refurbished harness from one of the Cougar vendors.

Tank you for your answer and I am aware of the issues with aftermarket kits. I already twisting my head figuring this out and have realized that it will not be painless after all.
If I lived in US i would have no problem to restore the wires, but in Sweden… I do not know who could or would do this.
The original wires are in such a bad shape (thanks to the owner before me) and crack easily when bent, so I do not dare to use it, even worse in the engine compartment.
I will however save the originals wires or even install them as well but not connect.

Now, this I am 100% sure of:
445A (Orange with blue stripe) = Right rear turn
442A (Green with orange stripe) = Left rear turn
511 (Green) = Brake light

However I would need some help to identify these, (if my assumption is correct that is):
449 (White with blue stripe) = Right front turn?
448 (Green with white stripe) = Left front turn?

Finally if anyone knows if 448 & 449 routed directly to the front turn signals?
