Hi Everyone,
It breaks my heart to post this, since I was hoping to get this car back on the road, but for a novice like myself, cost is not feasible. Perfect car for a DYI restorer, or as a parts car for another '69 or '70 Cougar.
This 1970 Mercury Cougar was sitting in a garage in northern Indiana for the last 30 or so years. I have the Deluxe Marti Report which I’m happy to share with anyone interested. It was originally purchased in New York City, then spent some time in Massachusetts before ending up in Indiana. Original Cleveland engine was rebuilt in the 80s prior to sitting in the garage. Here are the specifics:
1970 Base Model
VIN: 0F91H563955
Engine: 351 Cleveland 2V, 3 Speed Automatic
Original Color: Medium Bronze Metallic with Black Vinyl Top (now black with no vinyl top)
Original Features: Console, power front disc brakes, power steering, Whisper-Aire, rear window defogger, AM radio, tinted glass, deluxe wheel covers.
As with most older Mustangs and Cougars that need to be restored, this car has a lot of rust. At a bare minimum, the floorboards and rear quarter panels need to be replaced. Interior is in good condition. Driver seat needs to be re-upholstered. Trunk, firewall, and rockers appear solid. Cleveland motor wants to start, but likely needs the carburetor rebuilt since it’s been sitting so long. Engine is not seized. Glass is in good condition. Has New battery, original 14" rims, and original Deluxe wheel covers.
Feel free to reach out with any questions. Just looking to recover my investment so far so I can begin looking for another Cougar. Updated price is $3,900.00.
