1970 Cougar Eliminator Paint Colors and where to buy them for restoration

I am currently restoring a 1970 Cougar Eliminator 428cj with ram air. And am looking for paint colors and who sells what for all of the different areas of the car. Engine bay, hood hinges, hood latch, under dash, under carriage, interior, interior fire wall. The Car is Comp Blue hoping someone has done a restoration with concourse in mind but doing the restoration myself. Trying to get close.

You should check out the concoursmustang.com forum.

Lots of tips, techniques, and explanations. Each component and subassembly should be considered individually. Don’t go crazy with the sandblasting every part. Some items should not be sand or bead blasted. Vapor blasting is a thing. Cast iron parts should be ‘natural’, Eastwood cast grey paint will not give great results.

Using paint on originally non-painted items is generally referred to as a ‘rattle can restoration’. You have an investment grade car, and you should consider the end result.

Do what you want, but do consider the end results which ever way you go.

That’s why I’m asking for help with the paint colors. Their has to be someone who has all this information. I cant be the 1st one to restore a 1970 Cougar

There’s not any one source that explains everything. This is a learned process.

As previously mentioned, there is no “master list” for restoration details. However, the Concours Mustang forum has almost everything you are asking for.
