I’m looking for a pitman arm to replace mine on my Cougar. Does anyone out there have a NOS part? WCCC has used ones. Thanks Gene
They do not wear out and since they spend their life covered in grease they do not have rust. We have examples that still have the factory paint marks.
Thanks Don, I will pass your response to the folks that is working on the car.
The only time there is even a mark on them is when a previous owner did not use the appropriate puller and instead used a sledge. We can avoid sending you such examples…
Hay Gene, Maybe they are talking about the Idler arm. The Pitman arm connects the steering box to the control valve. The idler are is on the passengers side connection the center link to the frame. Those are different for power steering and manual steering just like the Pitmen arm.
Hi Neal, I’ll ask him about this. Don’s response above almost makes me think it is something else. Gene
Gene,
Any updates here?
Not yet. I will get the car back tomorrow so I can clean it up and take it to the Wheels on the Waterfront Car show just west of Scuttlebutt’s at BoxCar park on Saturday. I will have to reschedule it to finish up a few other items.
