Just pop the cover plate off the base of the antenna and remove the 4 screws. Then you can just lay the antenna down on the body, after you lay down a towel or some other type of cloth to protect the paint of course. The cable has enough slack in it to do it that way.

So another question, anyone with a dustop cover, which side of the seam does the antenna hole go on? It pretty much falls right in the top/side seam. So is it better on the top side of the seam or the “side” side of the seam??
Mine is just below the seam.
