This one came up a bit ago via email to another member on MC.net as a SCJ Eliminator. The seller finally got his Marti report, and while it doesn’t appear to be an Eliminator it is still a 428SCJ (W 4:30 gears) 4-speed car. Originally blue metallic with white interior. Non-ram air, but it has PS & PB. Looks to be missing the oil cooler equipment and has subframe connectors welded in.
They are asking $24k, in SoCal. Here is the email contact: wantedclassiccars@gmail.com
David can send pics, but here is a link to some posted here already, as well as previous discussions about the car: http://www.mercurycougar.net/forums/showthread.php?59259-Eliminators-on-the-Market-(March)&p=497878#post497878
Here is the Marti;

I can imagine this having been a stop-light sleeper back in the day. No scoop, plain blue car with somewhat classy “deluxe wheelcovers”. Nothing to worry about… until that SCJ tore up the pavement! LOL!
Sorry if it was posted and I didn’t see it, but is this numbers matching?
Sorry, but I don’t have that info. The car looks like it has been through quite a bit though, so I would definitely want to make sure. When I talked to the seller I told him as much (“make sure it really is numbers matching”), and gave him an idea of where to look for the numbers. However, I did not get the impression that he was comfortable with that.
He still seemed fixated on how to prove / disprove that it may be a real Eliminator. To me (and most others), the Marti Report answers that question if for some reason you doubted the red painted over metallic blue, and the other non-Eliminator things the sellers pictures reveal.
Ok, I’m rambling. Time to get the kid into bed
By the way, what do you think would be a reasonable asking price for a car such as this? To me, it looks like about $15k just in parts if the drivetrain all checks out as legitimate, but I admit that I’m no expert.
Hard to say given all the issues. If it’s the original drive train I think you’re in the ball park at 15K. I’m trying to avoid any new projects like the plague, but I’d make an exception for this kind of car at the right price.
