Same here.
Nice car! Neat to see that since it was a “special order” paint color, it got the standard driver’s chrome mirror, not the racing mirror. They got the production numbers wrong, it is one of 49 made with automatic, not 37, but still super rare! I only saw 3 issues with the car. #1- the radio and knobs are incorrect for a 1970, 2nd is that the front grille is not painted correct for an XR7, which should have 2 chrome bars, 2 black bars, etc. 3rd - needs a reproduction autolite battery… Other than that, looks very correct, and I hope it brings $100K at auction.
from image center grille looks standard not XR7
Things I noted,
1, Stone guard behind from bumper should be satin Black,
2, Missing XR 7 on Trunk
3, Hood grill not for a XR-7
4, Radio Bezel looks tacky
5, Looks like a Standard wood trim panel on the console.
6, Drivers side rear extension is way out of alignment.
None of that would keep me from having this in my garage if I had the means.
Scott
Guess they meant there were only 37 XR7 428 convertibles with ram air.
Have you got a picture of the grille? Mine is painted the same as that car
Didn’t the last one go for around $160K?
It has crossed the block at Mecum before, it will be interesting to see what happens this time.
My understanding is that there was only 1 other special paint 428 CJ Ram Air 1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7 convertible built, and that was the Silver 4-speed that sold at Mecum Indy earlier this year for $180k.

While I’m sure the 4-speed and silver color adds some value to the mix, I’m curious how the Presidential Blue will do in comparison.
Wasn’t presidential blue the Ford family colour?
Nice color combo. You guys have eagle eyes. Wonder if it comes with the original wheels…
Did it sell? Can’t find a result
You need to log into the Mecum sight. It lists as sold for $72,000.
That was cheap. Has the value tanked?
Super cheap. You can’t hardly restore the car to that level for that price. Someone got a deal, it should have brought much more. Car prices are all over the map lately…
