1970 Xr7 convertible, seat belt inquiry

Resto getting close. Cleaning up many things in my car putting it back together, things that were pulled apart over 20 years ago, mostly by someone else, scratching my head on where and how some of it goes back together.
I just pulled apart the seat belt buckles, I have questions. 1st there was one belt with a spring type thing that I will include a pic of, was it for the front or back seats? There are 2 that are longer are they for the front?
Wow, they are so filthy! What is the best way to clean them up, brush with good old fashioned soap and water, or how should I approach it?

That is a ford accessory retractor for the front seat belts on a convertible.

Soak the belts in warm soapy water until the dirt stops coming off. Disassemble the buckles and repaint the plastic parts, unless you have the deluxe version which doesn’t come apart.

I’ve used RIT dye to bring life back into old seatbelts, but they may or may not have a color that works for your tan belts.

Thank you.. I pulled the buckles apart last night. Will start to clean them up today. Happy Easter!
