1970 XR7 coupe lots of pics

Replaced the front brake lines today. This is a picture of the drivers side, both ends. Passenger side was not as bad and had been replaced sometime in its life. Does this one look original? Not that it matters.

Also replaced the fuel sensor float. Yay! Now I know if I have any gas. You can see the pin hole, on the right side of the picture.

Thought I would work on my headlight door actuator. When I shut off the car, I can hear the air hissing out of the accordion boot. So I took it apart.

Here you can see the hole in the boot.

This is the grommet that seals around the rod. You can see the split across the edge.

Here is a portion the the debris that came out. Maybe 30%

Old grommet, and new grommet.

New boot.

New grommet in place.

All back together. I came across this fix while reading all the Cougar forums, and searching the net for cost effective solution, for the leaking actuator.
I have not tried it yet. but it was worth the $20 that it cost.

Here is the link, to this idea.

Almost forgot, the new boot needs to be trimmed to fit the opening. I used scissors.

Pulled the passenger fender today and cleaned out some more pine needles.

Maybe a quart sized bag of needles came out.

Here is where they came out.

Yes that is likely the original. Single crimp is an indication of when it was made.
