Can anyone recommend a good new distribution block - disc brakes supplier for a new distribution block for front disc and rear drum? I am trying to take the old one out and rebuild if possible but I have one line that is not letting me take it out. Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated
I’d cut the line close and then put a line wrench or box end wrench on it instead of an open end wrench. Make sure it’s secure in the vise with a rag around it to minimize teeth marks and go gorilla on it, you have nothing to lose. Rebuilding those is easy if you know the trick.
What is the trick to rebuild these?
I purchased the rebuild kit which had all the seals, spring. When you take it apart, one end has a red piston and the other has a brass piston with a brass collar/sleeve. After you clean the shit out of it, make sure the bore is clean. Reassemble the same way it came apart and install the sleeve on the brass piston then the square cut “O” ring on top of that. Insert the piston in the bore and make sure it’s centered with the tapered/center portion in line with the switch hole. Then screw in the centering tool. Now, use a toothpick or something tiny, push the square cut seal down to seat on top of the brass collar/sleeve being careful not to damage or roll the seal.(That’s the part that was left out of the instructions that if not done, will cause a leak at the switch hole.)Then put the red piston in. Replace all the seals of course. Reinstall and bleed the brakes leaving the centering tool in place till done. Cross your fingers, go have a beer and check for leaks.
. Thank you sir. I appreciate the run down. Will keep you updated if I can get the line off
