I recently purchased a 1972 cougar XR7 q code car . Interior trim DW ( white leather bucket seats / black components. The seats that are currently in the car have a black / white comfort weave as seen in picture. I have never seen this in a cougar 72 XR7 . I am assuming maybe it was changed at some point unless anyone here knows differently?
I had a 72 with DW trim. It did not have the Black and White comfort weave seats It had Black carpet, Black Console and dash. If I had your Cougar with those seats in it I would leave them. I think they look a little better then the regular XR-7 seats.
Thanks for the input and confirmation I’m kind of torn I really wanna put it back to original however I do agree that Comfort we have seeds do look very nice
Yes those are comfort weave seats and they were standard in all the convertibles and an option on the hardtops. I also noticed you do not have the XR7 trim along the edge by the side window. I have been cloning my standard to an XR7. All the XR7’s had the leather/vinyl seats. I would think your Marti report would show the leather delete. Would like to see more pictures!
Sorry for latte response , lost password anyway picture was not of my new car , still waiting on arrival ! Here are the pics of actual car . Looks like seats were changed at some point , working on getting correct upholstery now ! Car has full documentation and seems fully correct other than rims and seats . I already have steel styled wheels w/ trim rings and center caps on way . Current wheels not correct . Just got detailed Marti report . Car is 1 of 2 72 convertible CJ triple white fully optioned . Just need to put seats and rims back correct . I love the comfort weave , however, does not appear to be correct .
I’m looking at your Cougar and I see the same body side molding that someone installed on the 72 XR 7 convertible that I inherited from my mother. I wanted to remove it but found out it is riveted on.
Yes ! I wanted to remove mine too . Same problem, I guess I’ll have to wait till we repaint car one day !
My car is a medium green and it had the black insert molding. I was able to find a company that had some of the insert left so I changed mine to a green that almost matches the paint. It looks much better but I also plan to remove the molding and fill the holes when I paint the car.
