I’m upgrading my 1972 XR7’s tail lights to LEDs. I got the kit from WCCC, and received two DOWY-13350-L Electronic flashers to replace the existing flasher cans. I’m suspecting that the connector wires are reversed, but before I take the steps to reverse the wires, I’m wanting to confirm that the blue wire and the white/red wire should be reversed (second photo) for the connection on the right side of the radio (above the glove box). For the emergency flasher (a gold colored can on the left side of the radio), I have a white/red wire, but also a green/red wire (first photo). Which should be connected to the B terminal of the LED flasher?
Output wire colors for turn signal flasher is blue; for 4 way e-flasher the output wire is white/red.
This issue is very common - the old electro-thermal flashers are not polarity sensitive, so Ford apparently didn’t QA the vendor.
For the turn signal flasher:
The “B” (battery) terminal should go to the white/purple wire. (orange/yellow on 1969-70)
The “L” (load) terminal should connect to the light blue wire (which feeds the turn signal switch).
For the emergency flasher:
The “B” terminal should go to the green/red (which comes from the brake light circuit breaker).
The “L” terminal should go to the white/red (which feeds the turn signal switch).
