1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible 351CJ 4 Speed

I have a 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 Q Code 4 speed car that I will be selling soon. Its not my car but the owner knows that the car has a “special” engine" It’s a One owner vehicle purchased new. Now has 93K miles. One repaint. Last registered and running in 2019. I do not currently have a Marti report but through some online research found that this car was one of 69 in its factory color combination, yellow with brown vinyl interior. I assume that less than half of 69 were convertibles and even fewer Q code cars with a 4 speed. Any thoughts on value of this vehicle? I may run an online auction to determine value but seeking opinions from the Cougar enthusiasts on the Forum. Thanks, Jeff

A Marti report is a good small investment that shows what the car was born with. Pictures are a must when looking for opinions for value, you can also use the Hagerty valuation tool for a rough estimate. At the end of the day the phatcat is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Good Luck :smoke:

$20k

64 total, Q code convertible 4 speeds, built in 1973

Depends on the condition. A non running rust bucket is not going to be desirable to many. If it’s a non running car that isn’t rusty that’s better but still a problem for many because many shippers will not accept a non running car.

With pictures - many of them and detailed underside and inside - we might be able to predict value.

I have the car on auction now with allcollectorcars.com with a high reserve to help determine a value…

Have Marti report on order.

I’m thinking $20-$25K given that it hasn’t run in about 3-4 years

Thanks for all the feedback

Looks decent in the pictures. Too bad there is no photo of the data sticker and no Marti Report - it looks like a West Coast car.
