1973 Q Code, Air, Sunroof, XR-7, Tru-Trac, Auto, Marti

Hello, I recently purchased a 1973 Cougar XR-7 coupe. I have been considering restoring it but it might be more of a project than I could complete within a reasonable budget. However around the sunroof is very rusty, and of course that means the floors are rusty, trunk floor is rusty as well but could be patched I think. The trunk drop offs are good. All of the frames look really good. Other areas; body has original paint but has had a spray bomb touch ups, Car is nearly 100% complete from what I can tell, except it’s missing one of the original rims, but I do have all the trim rings and caps, no spare or jack. Currently does not run but turns over fine. I also heard it running and it runs good except the exhaust is rotted, needs a starter and battery, I do have a new starter on the way. Interior is really not that bad, passenger door panel is super nice, drivers has a hole and missing strap, console is not bad need the lid redyed, and the base needs redyed as well. Leather seats aren’t perfect but usable. All glass is good. Everything is still under the hood, even the heat shield on the passenger exhaust manifold, all the air conditioning parts are there, still has the original radiator. Engine as far as I can tell has never been modified, looks like it was dealer maintained. Odometer shows 4000+, so at least 104000, I think the car was originally purchased to pull a trailer, not street race. Trailer hook is gone but evidence still shows of its existence. I have the Marti report, I attached it below. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in it as maybe something you could restore or parts? I can send some pics if you are interested as well. Body is not that bad, needs a couple patches but it’s a never hit body and straight, doors just have surface rust on the bottoms, trunk lid is the same, hood is the same. Grill, all lenses, all trim are present and good, there are some slight dings but like I said car has never been hit. If it wasn’t for the rusty roof it would be pretty straightforward resto. Anyway, thanks for your time, please ask any questions.$4500.00, located in Lethbridge Alberta Canada, price is US dollars.

Very nicely optioned car. Special ordered too. Good luck with the sale.

Wonder what Air Conditioning - Manual, means? Marti error?

You might want to get more pictures of it posted. It is a well optioned Cougar. Good luck finding that a new home.

“Air Conditioning - manual” is a reference to the mode of operation. The manual style requires the operator to select the settings, as opposed to the Automatic version ( called “Automatic Temperature Control” or ATC ) found in other ( not Cougars or Mustangs ) higher priced Ford, Mercury and Lincoln automobiles, where only the desired temperature desired needed to be ‘dialed in’.

It is funny the way A/C is names on Marti reports.
My White XR-7 it is called “Air Conditioner- Selectaire”.
But on my 1970 Standard CJ Cougar it is called “Air Conditioner - Whisper-Aire”.

Very cool - especially with the sunroof!

Did you ever sell this 1973 Q code car?
I’m looking for one to restore

Thanks.
