Been a car guy since I can recall (pre teen). Had Mopars, GM’s, Fords, Toyotas, Volvos and more 60 plus. As of Friday I am proud to add Mercury to the list. When I was a little kid I remember my Dad’s friends 67 or 8 Cougar. Coolest car I had ever seen at that time. 50 or so years later I got one. Eager to learn. Enough about me, my Cougar is green (yet to figure the name) and it will stay that way. Bench seat and front disc brakes. Automatic. Leaks P/S fluid like mad as well as a bit of oil and coolant.
I can tell from the pics that your Cougar has a cool vibe/personality!
If you aren’t already aware, you can order a Marti Report for your Cougar and get a lot of useful information on exactly how your car came from the factory, what dealer it was sold at, etc.
Congrats on your 67’ and welcome to the forum. As someone who is working on a 67 as well this is a great community if you have questions regarding the Mercury Cougar with everything from archived threads to current discussions. If there is a question or concern feel free to ask. One bit of advice is to procure a copy of the factory service manual as it is an invaluable asset in understanding the assembly, specifications and procedures directly related to your car. For quality replacement parts, when need be, West Coast Classic Cougar is an outstanding resource. As someone who considers themselves with few years’ experience thus far, I consider myself a novice as there is so much to learn but, what a great journey it is. May it be the same for you as well.
Welcome, cool to see another local, lots of great information and people here to help you with anything you may struggle with. I suspect you will be the only cougar as most car gatherings which I find pretty cool. I always like having something a little bit different from everyone else!
