I have dissembled my 1968 tilt/tiltaway column.
My question is this.
I can’t get the lower part of the shaft to move upward on to the upper shaft.
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forum, I have no experience with tilt/ or swing away column, but I’m sure someone will answer.
They should slide together with ease unless you have messed up the end and have a burr preventing them from sliding together.
I recommend using a penetrating oil on it. And rotating one of the sections 180 degrees. It may only fit one way.

It has to install a specific way for the steering box and upper shaft mark for centering the steering wheel, but the shafts cab be installed 180° off.
