  • It’s that time again, so mark your calendar for a good time, and some great Cougar stories.
  • For local Cougar club members, please bring your Cougar if you can!
  • Cougars and show cars will be permitted into the back yard - follow the orange cones, all other cars please park in front.
  • We will have snacks and beverages, and you can come and go as you like.
  • You don’t need to worry about bringing anything, but feel free to bring your favorite beer or snacks if you like.
  • Scott’s home is located in north Chandler, about 20 minutes from the auction site.

Directions (from the car auction sites):

  • Take the AZ 101 Highway South for approximately 18 miles.
  • Exit on Elliot Road. Turn left (East).
  • Go 1 mile to Dobson Road. Turn Right (South).
  • Proceed about 0.25 miles, to the 3rd small street Shawnee.
  • Look for the Cougar sign and orange cones. Turn Right (West).
  • 2151 is the last house on the street (dead end), so come all the way down to the end.
  • Cougars can pull thru the side gate and park in the back yard, follow the orange cones.

I have always been so thankful that my wife has been very patient with and understanding of my Cougar (who we call “the other woman”), and figured it was mostly because the car was just sort of part of the deal of marrying me. She in no way whatsoever understands the need to have a car as anything other than a mode of transportation to get from point A to point B.

So imagine my surprise when I opened up my present from her this morning and found two plane tickets to Arizona and two tickets to the Barrett-Jackson auction for Saturday January 17! Wow, this woman must really love me! A close friend of hers lives just a few miles from the B-J Auction site, so in all fairness it is somewhat of a present for both of us, as she doesn’t get to see her friend very often. Having seen the auction on TV in past years, I am excited to be able to be there in person - a sort of a bucket-list thing for me.

• Butler Drive is a short street that runs between Dysart on the east and Litchfield on the west, its direction is East-West in El Marige. Olive is the north boundary street, and Northern is to the South. Kevin’s building is painted Ford [Lincoln/Mercury] Corporate Blue sets about 200yds west off Dysart road. Take Northern or Olive west off the101 loop.
• Head West on Olive (Off of the 101 - which Circles the entire Phoenix Metro) Olive is mid way between 101 on the North Side and 10 Freeway on the South. For a point of reference, Olive is 2 exits North of Huge Football Stadium (University of Phoenix stadium) So if approaching from the South, it Goes - Glendale EXIT to Northern EXIT and the next North is OLIVE. Off the 101, go West on Olive. Drive 7.5 miles
• (I’m guessing, will map quest later), AND TURN LEFT on Dysart.
• You are now heading South on Dysart. Then it is the 2’nd real Right Turn you can take. It is called West Butler Drive.

I’m also planning to attend the Cougar Gathering at Scott’s place - yay! Got lucky with a business trip that coincides with all the festivities going on down there next week. ~ Since it is a business trip, I have to work during the days, and I’m not sure how much “after hours work” will be expected of me. But Saturday will definitely be all mine, so I’m looking forward to meeting alot of folks that I only “know” from the forums and email. This is gonna be great!

It will be interesting to see as this one could actually be picked up for a good value if the crowd is not in a bidding mood. I would think $35k to $55k depending on how nice the total restoration is. Any guesses as to what it will go for?

Wish I had remembered my sunglasses (Rx)… this Arizona sun is tough on my Minnesota eyes…

Got upgraded on the rental car (since they can’t keep in reserve what I reserved), so I’m styling in a Mercedes M350… schweet… living large.
