2022 Woodward Dream Cruise

This Saturday is the 2022 Woodward Dream Cruise here in metro Detroit. I’ve missed it in the Cougar the last two years for various mechanical issues that are now resolved. I’ll be out and about this week at events including the Fantasy Trans-Am parade laps at Waterford Hills road course and the Berkley Cruise Festival Parade on Friday, Mustang Alley (registered and identified as a Cougar-lets see if they let me park with them), Dream Cruise, M1 and Pontiac Phoenix Center Saturday, and the All Ford Show at Ford World HQ on Sunday. Every day and night this week will see increasing amounts and types of cool cars and I’ve already spotted some out of state plates on classics in the area. Hope to spot some other local Cougars this week. Post up if you’re planning to attend.

Wish I were there!

I’ll take pics and post them here Bill. It truly is an amazing event on a scale that is difficult to comprehend.

It’s easy to sum up the whole thing in one word, “OVERWHELMING”!

I’ll be there… on foot (maybe someday with wheels).
My plan is to spend time at Mustang Alley Saturday morning.
Thanks for mentioning the All Ford Show at FHQ. That’ll probably be my Sunday morning.

Look for me Richard and please introduce yourself if you see me and the car.

I’ll be in the good looking car amongst all the Mustangs.

It is quite the spectacle of auto enthusiasts and cars. I was hoping to meet up with the CATS up towards M1 speedway in Pontiac but one of life’s curve balls has changed my plans.

Wishing all a safe and good time!

Is there a published CATS get together spot or was this impromptu? I’m not a member of that club.

It has been an advertised event. However, it is at M1 and we can’t tell who is going. kulwik@sbcglobal.net is our CATS point man for this event if you wish to get soime info.

Gary

Thanks Gary. I’ll reach out.

BTW-I just joined CATS as well.

Welcome, nice vert BTW.

Thanks! I got my confirmation email from the Mustang Alley folks this morning. Should cause some consternation in the morning!

I saw a black 1970 XR7 convertible last night at Nicky’s Coney Island. Anyone here?

Today I spotted a red ‘69 XR7 convertible at Griffin Claw Brewery in Birmingham. Also a white ‘73 convertible at the Berkley Cruise Festival. Anyone here?

I was out to Mustang Alley in Ferndale early this morning but did not see any Cats amongst the Ponies. I overheard one of the Mustang Support Personal saying there were over 900 Mustangs on display. Next was a short walk to Pleasant Ridge to see the Broncos.

Wawazat: Possibly I saw you driving on Woodward, northbound, out of Ferndale (9 1/2-ish Mile), about 9:45am, with the top down. The car was looking good. Driving several blocks behind was a deep blue 67-68 Cougar, and about a half mile behind that was a white 67-68 Cougar with black vinyl top.

MUSTANG ALLEY

This vert has FUN written all over it.

BRONCO LAND

In case I was breaking any Cougar by-laws looking at Stangs, I was wearing a fake mustache and glasses disguise as to not be recognized.

That was probably me. Thank you!

I tried to crash the Mustang party but was denied entry. I walked the Alley then took off for parts north.

I only saw a few Cougars this year. The ones I noted above here in the thread (saw the red 1969 XR7 convertible again today) and a Lime Frost 67 or 68 that looked great. I also saw a green 71-73 convertible that was for sale. Got some very nice compliments on the car and it ran really well. On the downside, my FiTech handheld cable or controller is acting up and the display won’t stay powered up.

With the rain headed in now, I took off for home. It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow so the All Ford Show in Dearborn may not happen.

Did they let you into Mustang Alley with your pre-registration? I asked on one of the Dream Cruise Facebook pages if Cougars were allowed, some Mustang guy shot back that I had to be joking, not very helpful.

The reason I asked was that in 2005 when I was there with my 69 Mach 1 they had an area in Mustang Alley for Cougars. Therefore I did not consider it to be a joke.

Scott

No. They waved me off before I entered the registration/payment area.

There were no other Mustang related vehicles either-Cougar’s, Fox body Capri’s, other Fox body platform mates, etc. I don’t recall seeing any Mustang II’s either though I was out of the area before 10:00am.

Where did you end up parking? I remember back in 2005 it was like $300 for a parking spot unless you were in Mustang Alley.
