Good day. Can anyone please post a picture of three point seatbelts that they installed using the original mounting points? It’s for a 1970 XR7. I’m trying to figure out is the retractor would work better attached to the roof mounting point or the mounting point near the door.
Thank you
Dave
I have yet to see it done successfully with current aftermarket offerings.
I have 3-pointers in both front positions, and I’m pretty happy with the Scott Drake offering. I’d say the only caveat is being that I’m 6’2", I had to invest in seat rail extensions (driver side only), so the seat belts gave me a little room to reach the radio to turn up my Rush 8-tracks. I’m not sure what photo best shows what you want to see, but here’s one showing how they’re mounted: The bolt for the original outboard shoulder strap becomes the top anchor point. The attached retractor is in the bottom outboard position, replacing the old lap-only retractor for the second anchor point. The inboard side lap belt is the adjustable third anchor point and simply replaces the original.
Thank you. I’ll give it a shot with keeping the retractor on the floor. Don, I have a set of Van seatbelts with a longer reach at the roof point. I’ll let you know how it goes. I just want to be done with this car so I can move on to the next project, another Cougar
