302 exhaust manifold and heat riser tune

Currently have a 68 with automatic 302 2 barrel carb. Has standard exhaust manifold. . Thinking of getting the “hipo” factory manifolds for the high performance 289 Mustangs. I do not see any fittings for the heat riser tube on the “hipo” manifolds.

Anyone made this switch? What did you do with the heat riser tube?
I did scan the forum for heat riser tubes and did not see this subject mentioned for 302 engine. I also spoke with Daryl at WCC and he did not see a fitting for the heat riser tube on the high performance manifold either. He suggested coming here and asking you all.

Thank you

Don’t profess to be expert as far as equipment, but weren’t the Hipos manual chokes? That would eliminate the need for the heat riser

There were no Hi Po Cougar engines. All of the 302’s have automatic choke. All of the RH exhaust manifolds have provisions for the two tubes for the automatic choke.

I think the manual vs automatic is the answer. Here is the listing from the WCC site that prompted my question. Thank you for your help

HiPo Manifolds are great but they require a different H pipe or custom exhaust. I would convert to electric choke while you are at it.

I don’t think you would see any noticeable benefit from installing those. The stock ones would benefit from a dual exhaust system if you are stuck on manifolds. Personally I would rather spend the money on a set of shorty tri - Y headers like those sold by Tony Branda for example.

One thing that should be known about the HiPo manifolds is that they won’t fit with the original Z bar used on original manual transmission cars. You have to get a '67 Mustang HiPo Z bar. I believe that NPD has the part and there may be others.
