427 cyclone

Easy answer - no it has been replaced. 1967 Fairlanes, Cyclones, Galaxies, Marauders and 427 NASCAR engines were all side oilers with screw in freeze plugs.
Here’s the Fomoco internal memo on grading FE blocks.

A 1967 Cyclone could have been a W code or R code engine. In either case that engine would be a 427 Medium Riser solid lifter side oiler. Lots of flolks who don’t know better and lots of crooks who will say otherwise.

First of all, thanks for letting me put this on a cougar forum Not much out there on a 67 cyclone. What I have found is the 427casting c5ae-a came in a couple cobras and 1965 galaxies. I also seen where it was called the transition block from a center oiler to side oiler. this block has the gallery plug to the left of the timing chain cover but does not look like it has the plugs down the side. With ford only making a handful of 66-67 fairlane and mercury 427 cars. Do you think this 427 block casting c5ae-a could be original to this car? Royce this could be a less desirable block but is it the original block. I would have liked it to have a c5ae-h or a c5ae-g side oiler. Is there a website to the registry for these cars? Thanks jeffdn
