I have decided that the time has come let this very special car go to a new home. It will be featured on Bring A Trailer (BAT) in the coming months, compete with hundreds of pictures and driving videos. We just finished the 5 hour long photo shoot last week. BAT provides excellent professional automotive photographers, and a shout out to Jordan Cole. He did a great job! He called GTE the most original and well documented car he has ever photographed. We had a ton of fun doing the shoot, especially the driving segments!
Sine 2015 when I bought the car at Owls Head Transportation Museum Auction, we have tried to take every original part and place it back into service. I am truly amazed how well made Ford parts were (and are). Even the original voltage regulator works perfectly.
I have posted here the list of matching parts for reference. I think it will be fun to follow the auction much like we have other Cougar auctions. Yes, there will be a reserve (unlike my 2013 BJ auction for the 70 SCJ Eliminator, where I thought I was going to have an MI).
Over the years, I feel that Cougars have really begun to get the respect and attention that they deserve. I hope in some small way this sale will continue to prove that our Cougars really are the best.
I am glad to hear BaT was willing to let you put a reasonable reserve on it. In the past Cougar owners have declined their services as their reps did not understand the value of the higher end Cougars.
Thank you all for the kind words. My Cougar friends are some of the best anyone could hope for. Your guidance and assistance has been invaluable. I really want this car to set a mark, and raise the tide for all of us.
Edit to add: From BJ’s website: “This preview listing contains items that Barrett-Jackson anticipates will be consigned for an upcoming auction but cannot guarantee that every item will be present at auction.”
Ha. Seeing as we have just been talking about it and I haven’t even agreed to consign it yet as I am discussing still with a potential buyer, BJ jumped the gun more than a little bit.
To be fair, B-J really needs 6-10 months to properly market a rare and desirable muscle car. Two months lead time is not nearly enough time to get pictures and written text in front of the masses.
We have all the pics and writeup done. As per usual with BJ, it will all depend on the docket and timing. It is in front of Steve Davis now. We will see…
