Can u put a 429 in a 68 xr7 with out have to modify the vehicle suspension?
The springs will need to be replaced with something to support the weight. The 429 is about 100 lbs heavier than the 428 427 or 390.
I currently have the 650 rated 1’ drope springs now, that held up the 302 that was in it , but looking to replace the rear leaf spring as well, will i need to be changed them as well, from the four to the five leafs.
The Rear Springs will work fine with the swap, However, as Bill mentioned, You’ll have to use Big Block Front Springs. You also will have to consider modifying the front shock towers to make giving it a tune-up a little easier. Rktmn did a '69, and I believe he has pics of the swap. '67-'68’s are similar.

where can i find the pic, did he shave the shock towers and go to a rack a pinion system?
I think you will want to go with heavier rear springs because the torque you will have with the 429 will wrap up the rear axle pretty badly other wise. You will probably also want to go with a 9" rear, but you could sure start out with the 8" and see how far you get with it. I know from at least one instance the 8" lived for a long time mostly because it would just spin the one tire until it was ready to pop: never got enough traction to break anything.
Do you already have the 429?
And welcome to the forums!
I don’t think he did either, but maybe he will post up and let us know. I think the main thing is that it is possible to make it fit without doing major mods. Fitting the Boss 429 is a different story.
I have a friend of mine with a fresh 429 re-build, I, believe it is a D1 block 30 over and D3 heads, that he is trying to sell, money problems.
It sounds like he would want to do something like stacy is doing on gears for suspension on the front right?
sI know it’s extra money, but you could change out the heads and intake to aluminum to save on the weight.
Yeah. You should go to the curb and check out rocketman’s writeup on it.

You can use all the stock stuff without having to do a rack and peanut steering.
