Quicker than my 393W Crown Vic and awesome MPH, too!

That’s so cool!

That is a great trap speed for that car

I picked up a '93 Crown Vic and was wondering if there were any power adders that might be available.

Head on over to http://www.CrownVic.net and poke around. Not too much you can really do with a 4.6L unless you want to spend some serious coin! '02-later PI (Performance Improved) heads, camshafts, headers, duals, superchargers, ‘tune’… That’s why I prefer my pushrod motor! Much more flexible! Do you have any idea about how much would be required to get a 4.6L into the 12s and be a reliable daily driver???

I also have a '96 CVLX HPP (Handling and Performance Package) which consists of beefy swaybars, dual exhaust, 3.27 rear gears. Wife has an '04 CVLX Sport, which is about the same thing but also has bucket seats, console and floor shift and a high-stall converter.

A ‘normal’ Crown Vic/Marquis likely has 2.73 or maybe 3.08 rear gears and gets better gas mileage than you’d been lead to believe. On the highway, you’re looking at 27+mpg, and at least 22 city. With our 3.27s, we get right around 20mpg…

I’m a smidgen over 19 on the first full tank. I was thinking that the best I could do is a K&M filter, a set of E3’s and a tuner program (if I can find it). 0-60 is about 11 seconds which is fine for a commuter car. I was more interested in freeing up some MPG (and the extra HP wouldn’t hurt).

That’s about it, man. A tune and a filter is about all you can do without getting into the engine. Well, unless you want to fit a supercharger, but there goes your mileage.
On the flip side, the mod motors will do 200k miles without much problem and they run smoother. Remember to use the right grade of oil in there. Bearing tolerances are tighter than the old engines from the 60’s.
