Good evening fellow Cat enthusiasts. Got a 68 hot rod that needs the front suspension replaced. I have conflicting information regarding the interchangeability of Mustangs parts. Most things underneath I know are interchangeable. As you know, requesting Mustang parts can sometimes be a bit less expensive for some things. What I got is a complete front suspension for a 68 Cougar for $650 or 68 Mustang for $545. I have been told that everything in front of the firewall is interchangeable, but, someone has said everything EXCEPT the lower control arms. Which is right before I order this kit?
Thank you for your time and input.

You could cross reference part numbers between makes and models to see if these components are a match. West Coast Classic Cougar sells both Cougar and Mustang components. That will be a good place to start making comparisons. Another company is C and G Early Ford parts, Scott Drake -who doesn’t sell to the general public- and Rock Auto to name a few. If you want to get more specific then I’d suggest going by factory part numbers. As an example ‘C7DZ-3078-AR’ lower control arm is compatible with many Ford/Mercury vehicles from 1968-1971 including both Cougar and Mustang.
Your good! 68 Cougar and Mustang front suspension is the same. 67 Cougar front lower control arm and strut rod are different from Mustang and 68 Cougar.
Thank you gentlemen. This, at least helps me feel more confident in buying the 68 Mustang kit. I’ll touch back with the progress.
