67/68 Throttle Rod

I am searching for a Throttle Rod for my 67/68 Cougar. Throttle rods are everywhere BUT I need one that has the holes for a cotter pin for the end that connects directly to a 4 barrel carb. Yeah, I already know that the other end that connects to the accelerator has a cotter pin too. Hence both ends need to have holes for a cotter pin. I know these throttle rods exist. I see them at car shows all the time but I can’t seem to find out who has them for sale. Any help is appreciated.

None of them have a hole for a cotter pin at the carburetor. All used a clip at the carburetor.

My early production rod has a hole for a cotter pin. Not to say it didn’t get converted at some point, but it’s the way it was when I bought it many years ago.

My 68 also had a hole but it looked like it was added later. I imagine the weird little clips were tough to find at some point so people just drilled them.

I drilled mine.

I’ve drilled several in order to use generic motors style 0-1850-(2,3,4,5 etc) Holley carburetors because there is no way to use the factory clip.

It would seem that the common consensus is the throttle rod would need to be drilled. Hmmm. Well, I don’t have that capability myself. Does anybody have an extra for sale? If not, I can send someone a throttle rod and they drill it for me. I pay for shipping both ways.

I’ve e got three from part outs give a length and I’ll check them, like carb end to offset is——- and offset to pedal rod is ———-, the offset is in a different spot on one of the three.Randy

Hi, Randy. The entire rod is a tad over a foot long. The end that goes into the carb is roughly 7 inches to the bend. The other end has threads and is adjustable so I think whatever you have will most likely work.

I can’t seem to post pictures but it’s 12 1/4 long and 6 1/2 at bend

Well I think I sent it in the email, I don’t know why I can’t post pictures any more, Im sure it’s because I’m computer dumb but I did have my son try and he couldn’t do it either???

No problem, Randy. At present time, your email has not come through. I believe you have what I need though. Message me for shipping details.

Tech support… you put a space in front of the file name. After you hit the CCCGallery button right click and hit paste, the cursor is already where you want it.

XR7G428 thanks

Among many other parts I have for sale I happen to have a throttle rod. This one does have holes in each end for a cotter pin.

You can find it listed here in the “under the hood” section. scroll down a little.
