Brake lights work as they should when car is parked. When car is driven the brake lights will not work however the lights a turn signals do. The cam sequence has been replaced with solid state unit.

Problem Solved. Replaced brake light switch with a brake light switch, power drum / disc repro. Now the brake lights work when the car is driven. $ 12.35 solved the mystery.

If my memory is correct , there are 3 if not 4 different stop light switches forca 1967 cougar

I used the one listed in West Coast Cougar parts list. Stated for power disc and drum rear, purchased the two bushings along with it.
Was it a factory motorcraft switch in a factory box. If i remember , i ended getting the correct one from Green Sales. Pricey 15 yrs ago.
