'67 Cougar power steering on a '66 Mustang?

Any idea if the power steering system on my '67 Cougar parts car will fit on my '66 manual steering Mustang? Got no response when asking about this on the Mustang forum.

I would imagine most of it is the same. But not sure.

A quick look in a Mustangs unlimited catalog shows different part # for everything but the pitman arm.

Makes sense, the first generation Mustang was based on the Falcon.

I don’t know for sure , but I think you will run into some differences. Taking a quick look in the NPD catalog. The Borgeson power steering conversion kits are grouped by (65-66) (67) (68-70) and different part numbers for each one. Can’t tell you what the differences are between them.

Remember that the engine box was enlarged (widened) in 67 to accommodate the FE engines…

OK, thanks guys. I was hoping it would work just because it’s on the parts car, and the good Cougar already has power steering.

Whew… that went better than expected. Generally parting out Cougars to fix Mustangs gets a pretty strong reaction… LOL!

It’s ok. It’s not just a random Mustang. These two cars have lived together for 49 years! Hard to believe when you think about it, and I was there when each one was purchased.
