I am looking for a mangled 67 68 front bumper. It doesn’t matter if the ends are mangled as long as the rest is okay. Chrome can be iffy but not a rusted mess.
I am looking for a front valance in similar condition the ends are not important. What is important is I am in Northern CA and I was hoping for scrap/junk prices since I am going to cut em up.
I need a junky bumper to try some bumper bolt shaving tricks any maybe a custom chop of the bumper. Don’t want to mess up a good bumper experimenting. If the bumper works out I will need to match the valance.
Sounds like a “Chip Foose” bumper mod. I saw a show where they shaved bolts on a Falcon. Just doing that was a good looking custom touch. Do your plans call for a painted or chrome bumper when finished?

I am thinking chrome at this point. The rest of the car is shaved already in the sheet metal stage. No door handles, no emblems, no trunk lock, no antenna hole. I am still debating painting the window trim. I saw a mustang dubbed project Nasty in Mustangs monthly with black window trim and liked it. If I did that, the bumpers and the wheels would be the only chrome on the car. Then the bumper finish might be back up for debate… http://www.cmcresto.com/projects/the-restomod-project-nasty/
They also have one piece windows which makes the look. The wing windows complicate painting the window frames because of moving parts and wear and tear to the finish.

I think Mark had a photoshop of his car Hero with one piece windows. Neat idea but I like the wing windows.

One Piece Products used to say they are developing a kit for the 67 68 Mustang. Its a good thing this project is taking way longer than originally planned…
Do you think black powdercoat would hold up on the wing windows and quarter windows with all new felt and rubber?
I like that black chrome too. Maybe I can get a black chrome / gunmetal colored powder coat. Cost is a factor to be certain. Powdercoating is approx 1/4 the price of chroming.
I’ve seen black chrome on street rods but never on a Cougar. I bet it would look cool. I’ve seen body colored bumpers (not sure if paint or powder coat) but I think black chrome would kick it up a notch on the custom factor.
