67 glovebox opens too far

Spilling contents on the floor. I purchased what I thought would fix it from the cougar store in Salem. Except, I can’t figure out how it goes. Anyone care to help with a picture or description of where it goes? Thanks

This is the part I thought would’ve worked.

It came with a couple screws

I think the 1967 - 68 Cougar / Mustang glove compartment is designed to eject all the contents on the floor when opened. It’s not a good feature.

Ok, I am wondering where this part I purchased is designed to go? I mounted it awhile ago, when I purchased it. It can stay there for now since it works ok. Not a big deal, just curious if it can work better mounted somewhere else

The part that you purchased is what holds the door shut. It is not designed to be a limit movement piece.

That is good to know, thank you both. Fyi though, my door shuts and stays closed without that piece.
On the bright side for me I used it to my advantage but I’m going to make one that is a bit larger to hold the door level.

What’s confusing is it’s called a ‘catch’. To me that means it should catch the door.
Anyway, I made my cougar her first jewelry piece:) and it works a lot better!

So is there actually something that originally limited the opening because it is mildly infuriating! I may have to follow this and just come up with something similar.

I just went and looked at my 67 & 68 Cougar. The only thing holding the glove box door is the hinge. It only allows it to open so far. Might you have the hinge on the wrong way?

I’ll have to check mine when I get home for sure

I decided to check the hinge and to my delight I found it was slightly bent. Just enough to cause this.
After bending back into shape, it stops exactly where it should-right in line with the light bulb/hole. Thank you, sir! I appreciate your input.
