This is my 1967 GT XR7 that John at John’s Classic Cougars. It did not have a drive train and I traded the date matching 390 block and non-GT heads for her ride to Tulsa from John’s shop in Michigan. It was billed as a straight car that needed floor pans, likely cowl and very minimal rear quarter work.

Little did I know what I was in for
That is a well optioned Cougar and looks like a nice color.
What are you going to do about an engine?
Phillip,
It was well optioned. Had a console, which the previous owner prior to John Kept. Originally it was Sage Gold, so it has been repainted. It also was optioned with a 3.25 Limited Slip and C6 Transmission.
For now it will inherit a built 351C with approximately 425-450HP and 400 Ft/lbs. Did not dyno it and the car is still being assembled. You’ll see as this post evolves that by all rights this cat should have been put down. It has had a major structural repair and could not be Restored as was my original intention. Well, It was going to be a stock restoration with a Cleveland until I found the correct engine.
Are you going back to the original color? Here is my Saga gold 67 GT for reference.
Very Nice Cat! I must admit the Sage Gold looks a bit nicer than I thought looking at an original Ford paint swatch page from that period. I’ve been leaning towards PRV or Pearl Red Velvet with a black vinyl top.
Very similar to Lime Frost for 67 which when fresh is a good looking color.
Well, I’m glad you’re not painting it black
Seems like all the Sage gold Cougars get painted black. Mine was black when I bought it and I was going to repaint it black. Then the family stepped in and they all liked the original color and convinced me to go back original which was more work but it turned out nice.
