67 manual steering pitman arm

cant seam to locate a pitman arm for 1 inch sector shaft manual steering. my box is an SMB-E
i believe pitman arm i need is C7ZA-3590-A. what are my options ? change box to newer 1 1/8 style ? i have a pile of them and a couple of the larger manual pitman arms but not sure if this will cause other issues. help ! thx Mike

Have you tried stangerssite.com?

i did find a pic of the pitman arm i need on that site. dont see it available for purchase though. will give them a call on monday if i dont come up with anything else. thx Mike

found a usable smb-k box and i have a 1 1/8 manual pitman arm. gonna try it and see how i like it before i get a rebuilt one. anybody else use the 16 to 1 box on a manual steering big block car ? like or dislike ?

I noticed you said you have a pile of them, I would try to find a manual box instead of the power box, the manual is set up to make it easier to steer without power st. I have a p/s box hooked to manual rack, and it’s a bear to handle in a tight space, other than that, it give you a good feel of the road while driving.

another forum member pointed out that cars with performance handling package came w 16/1 steering. at least i know now that manual steering and the quicker box did happen together. also my girl says she likes big forearms so its a win/win. lol

More info on steering boxes, the only 16/1 box used on both power and manual was in 65 /66 mustangs with the handling package and came with the long shaft.

info i found on SMB-F says manual steering 16 to 1 ratio 67 thru 70 mustang and cougar.

You are right, I saw that one also, you wouldn’t happen to have a 19/1 manual box would you? SMBA-C-D-H
I could use one.

i will take a look and get back to you today. thx Mike

i only have one 19/1 ratio box its an SMB-D has a drag in it thru about half of its cycle. im gonna hold onto it until i make sure i like the other ratio. thx mike

No problem Mike, I will probable go with a Borgson box anyway.

i wish that i could. from everyone i talk to there is no way around the z bar issue as it is right where the hose fittings come out on the top side of the borgeson box. thought bout buying one anyway and modify the z bar and then i find out the factory manifold wont clear either.
