New to the forum and new to “The Cat” so please bear with me… Ended up with a '67 XR7 in pieces with no history so as you can guess I am struggling. My biggest challenge is electrical. I have headlights and front parking lights but can get nothing in the rear nor turn signals.
does anyone have a good resource I can turn to? Chiltons is pitiful in this area.
Mustangs Unlimited and several other vendors sell the Electrical Assembly Manual from Jim Osborn Reproductions. You can also get the correct service manual from the same vendors and that will also have electrical diagrams in it. They are well worth having on hand.
Chiltons is pitiful in every area. Good for use as kindling for small fires though.
First off, WELCOME!
The factory service manual is your friend. Be sure to get the 1967 version as there are differences between 67 and 68. A Mustang manual will not help because there are too many differences between the cars. The wiring for the XR7 is also different in many ways from the standard Cougar so be sure to check for that when you look at wiring diagrams.
Thanks guys, some great leads. Appreciate it.
It can be nice to have someone with a similar Cougar who is near you that you can use as a reference as well. Check the Member Locations map and see if anyone is in your area. There are also a couple of regional clubs that it may be useful to get acquainted with if you have not done so already. These are my favorite links that I reference although they may need to be updated. The CCC also has links.
