67 Cougar XR7. I am replacing my 289 with a nice 302 with the serpentine belt system up front. I need the lower radiator hose on the drivers side with this application. My question is, Will the repro radiator upgrade kit that WCCC fit with the two belt serpentine system? I realize it may be nearly impossible to tell unless you have done it before of have customers who have provided feedback on their installs. I can provide pics and measurements if needed. They suggested that I ask here.
I am sure they can put together a kit that has the hoses on the right side for your application. I am thinking possible the FE kit?
I think so as well. I think the main thing I am trying figure out is if there is enough room for the fan in their kit. I sent that same email to them and they suggested that I pose that question here as they were unsure. I don’t want to go electric fans unless I have to.
Good point. Is this a reverse rotation water pump? If so the mechanical fan would not work any way. If it is conventional rotation you only need to compare the height of the water pump.
Yes, reverse rotation. Good point on the fan. Didn’t even think about that. Duh.
The serpentine belt setups use a different water pump thus the hose being on the other side. Think later model 302s like fox body mustang. I dont think the fan and clutch from WCCC upgrade will work with your combo but you may be able to get a later model fan and clutch to work.
Electric fans are not a bad option if you set them up right but its more then just slapping on a electric fan on the radiator like most do, Done right this is a nice option and can free up space for your front end accessory drive components.
